Should we get my dog a dog?

Our 14yr pup passed away 2 weeks ago. Her little brother, a 8yr GSP, is really missing his playmate. Even at 14, up until her literal last day, she rough housed and played with her lil bro. I am not too keen on getting another dog due our personal situation, my husband is disabled and not able to assist much, we have a 7 year old kiddo and I work multiple jobs to keep things afloat. So.. like I don't want more work for me but... The GSP pup has been more work (well more demanding of extra playtime) since her passing. So I don't really want a dog for me, I kind of want a dog for my dog. But that sounds really dumb. Please talk me out of this. Thank you.
