Best Antivirus Software Right Now?

Best antivirus software right now is what I'm trying to find because my current subscription is up and I'm tired of dealing with slow speeds. I've been using the same program for years but it feels like it has turned into total bloatware that just eats up my ram while I am trying to game. I really need something that is actually lightweight and wont give me constant popups about upgrading to a vpn I don't even want.

I keep seeing people talk about Bitdefender and ESET as the best options for performance while others still swear by Norton 360 for pure security. I have heard that some of these are even lighter than windows defender these days which sounds great if it is actually true. I just want something that works in the background without making my pc lag when I am multitasking.

Does anyone have a favorite antivirus that they have been using lately that actually feels worth the money in 2026?
