I'm living in a hotel and my mail has been opened. What should I do?
A debit card came for me in the mail. But when I got it, the bottom right-hand corner was torn off. The hole was about half the size of a dollar bill.
I've already called the bank, and requested a new one.
The hotel I'm staying at, is in a sketchy area of town. One of the employees has already tried to convince me to take the amount I owe each week in cash, and keep it in the safety box behind the desk.
When I expressed concern about the open envelope, that same employee was able to immediately find it within the envelope.
I'm still working on getting enough savdd up to move out- or even get a job that pays enough- and this is the cheapest long term hotel in the area. I can't afford anything else- I honestly can't afford *this.*
Is there anything I can do about this? Knowing I have to live here for the foreseeable future, what actions can I take that won't bite me in the ass while I'm living here?
That much of an envelope doesn't end up torn off, by accident
