should I get an llc to join a group practice?

I currently work a w2 and am considering leaving and joining a group practice as a part time 1099. This will be my first 1099 position and I’m having a hard time knowing what steps to take. my therapist advised me to get an llc and be paid through that. I haven’t asked the group practice if this is possible and i’m just not sure if that’s common. the group practice rate will allow me to make the same as I make now (pretax) while only working 3 days and giving me much more flexibility. I’m worried about making the wrong choices and would love feedback. Thank you.
