HSG Procedure
Hi all, I know it's been talked about before but I feel I need to say my experience as someone high anxiety. On Monday I had a transvaginal ultrasound with a saline ultrasound to look at everything. Turns out I have a polyp that needs to be removed (story for another say) I was completely unprepared for the saline ultrasound but had it done anyway. It felt like nothing. Minor discomfort when cleaning the cervix and injecting saline. Not too bad.
I was most worried about the HSG procedure. Having been diagnosed with Endo and having surgery, they found a blocked tube then. I read through numerous horror stories about it being the worst pain ever, etc. I psyched myself out. I took a lorazepam and 800mg of ibuprofen beforehand. The procedure was nothing! I did not have extreme pain, felt minor diacom with speculum and balloon catheter. It was over I swear in 5 minutes.
While it may be painful for some women (totally not minimizing anything!) as a gal with a low pain tolerance (besides endo crampy, etc) it was not bad. And so worth it so see what is going on!
