AITA for putting my brother in his place

I (43/f) am the mother of four beautiful daughters. I was raised in an extremely religious and conservative community. I have all but cut ties with them, but I do go to see my brother on occasion.

The problem is that my (36/m) brother is an alcoholic and verbally abusive. If he doesn't like your religion or your politics, he screams you down. He lives with my mother, but I take care of her schedule medically and financially.

Today, I went over to sort my mother's meds for the next month, as I always do. My brother came home early, drunk, and started yelling about the governor of Massachusetts. I had to look it up to figure out why he was mad, and, of course, it had to do with abortion.

I let him rant for a while and just sorted meds. But then, he started that drunk behavior where he aggressively hugged on me and told me, "I know you'd never be one of those evil libtards."

Finally, I snapped.

I explicitly described for him both of my abortions and why I needed them, complete with which of my children would have lost a mother without the procedure.

Y

He shut up and left. But later, both my mom and sister called me saying I had no business telling him any of "my problems" because they weren't normal problems women had.

AITA for giving my brother a detailed reason why he should shut his mouth?
