Taking Impromptu Leave While PCSing

I am returning from OCONUS to CONUS (Alaska to Arizona) next month and was curious what the process is if we find a spot (say in Canada) that we want to spend an extra day in. It’s allotted as 11 travel days so if I take 12+ would each additional travel day just be charged as leave after the PCS travel, or do I need to plan ahead and submit a leave request? My gaining unit seems pretty flexible on when I get there

The materials they gave when I got the assignment were kind of confusing and I haven’t found something specifically matching my question on here - so I’m sorry if this is a dumb question. Thanks in advance for the help!
