Alternate Luke/Lorelei Plot Lines for seasons 6&7

So I think a lot us agree that the April and Anna storyline was introduced for the purpose of creating space and drama between Luke and Lorelei. They wanted to separate them so they could eventually back together. I think this storyline was cruel to fans who had waited four long seasons for them to get together. Vineyard Valentine was absolute character assassination of Luke. SO that being said...

What are alternate storylines for Luke and Lorelei in seasons 6 and 7 that would have still been compelling but maybe less devastating or more canon? Call me traditional but personally I would have been thrilled to see them get married and have a baby in these seasons. Protective Luke plus Lorelei pregnant & hilarious could have been cozy happy pure magic. They could still get in arguments about how the baby would be raised - I feel they have a bit of a difference in ideologies that could have created interesting conflict! It would be a completely different experience for Lorelei not getting to run the show 100% and having a real partner who was very involved with the kid and had strong opinions of his own.
