For modular hardware, how much does a nonstandard mounting interface matter over time?
I’m comparing rack systems and have already checked the obvious interface variables like upright dimensions, hole spacing, and proprietary fittings. What is harder to understand from specifications is the long-term cost of losing interchangeability when accessories are added later. In practical equipment design, does a nonstandard mounting interface usually become a bigger constraint than it first appears?
