21M, fresh B.Tech grad — credit score dropped 740→699 after one late payment on loans I took for a friend. Can I recover?

I have just refreshed my cibil score report in Paytm and it suddenly increased 54 points don't know how and my late payment was also removed from navi , do you guys know anything about this
