Are there any other certifications or short courses I can do to increase my chances of getting on?

I’m 18 going into uni this fall, pursuing a bachelor of science if that matters at all, I have around 3/4 of a year of actual manual labour experience, and I did all sorts of odd manual labour jobs throughout high school, I took a year off of school to upgrade some courses and work a bit, should be getting my standard first aid and CPR/AED in the next month or so.
