2013 Prius. Confused about replacement battery performance
Well, I screwed myself a little bit. Never owned a hybrid but need better mpg. Did some research before hand but not enough.
I bought a 2013 with 138k. It’s a clean car overall. I paid 9400. Took it to Toyota the following day for an oil change because it was at 4000 miles and I had read about oil burn.
They told me that the hybrid battery was bad. The mpg were low which is what made me ask them to test it, plus just a gut feeling.
So I’m not sure what route to take for a battery because I don’t know how long I’ll keep this car. I’m coming from a sequoia so the size transition is rough.
Toyota will install a new battery for $3200 out the door. There’s also 1000 reman batteries I can get. I know an oem battery will last longer but I’m struggling to want to spend that on a car I’m not sure how long I’ll have.
So my question: is there a huge performance difference between the 2 batteries?
