Fall 2027 Honeymoon in the US for Picky & Boring Couple
Read title. We'll marry in mid-August and would like a 5-ish day honeymoon within 1000 miles of mid-Missouri. Budget is $2,500-5,000 give or take. We are not incredibly outdoorsy nor active people but might like to GENTLY change this in the coming months/years in order to live a more enriched life in the distant future. We smoke weed, but do not otherwise party or socialize much. We love anime and video games but we also love animals, cool experiences, historical and meaningful things.
What we do not want: A lot of hiking. A completely undriveable city or area. A destination that is only cool because it has a beach (neither of us really care about going to a beach for much longer than an hour to see it). A luxury iteniary with fine dining and a bunch of alcohol.
What we do want: Rich history, neat architecture, nature and good views that is relatively accessible with minimal hiking (a sizeable walk is fine), safe and chill vibes, some shopping (for fandom merch from our many interests and vintage thrifting alike), arts or other museums, a good amount of free experiences, some coastal or near-water vibes without being beach-forward (I'm personally very interested in marshlands), homely affordable food, comfortable and memorable places to stay.
Open to any ideas that feel somewhat relevant or applicable to any of the things I said. I'll leave some of my ideas so far too: Savannah, Chicago (too busy I'm afraid), Niagara Falls, New Orleans...? I've always wanted to see Arizona/Utah but it's feeling a bit too far away from home right now.
