Avoidance and ADHD

Last Tuesday I sat him down and told him all my sadness and frustration with his behavior. It felt good to get it out.

Fast forward 6 days, we are finally spending some quality time together and I tell him I want to follow up on Tuesday’s talk, because I want to feel like we’re solidly back in connection.

I ask him how he’s feeling since our talk, and if anything’s come up for him related to what I shared.

He goes silent for a few minutes, so eventually I say “Hey, it’s okay if you don’t have the words yet. I have all the patience and time in the world for you.”

He tells me he can’t stop thinking about food, and announces he is going inside to eat. He emerges a few minutes later, and starts playing his ukelele.

I keep telling myself that surely he’ll circle back around to my question. He never did. It’s been nearly 3 days.

Is this sort of blatant avoidance an ADHD thing?
