Burning CDs

I’m still trying to wrap my head around this physical media stuff. If I was angling for an intentional listen approach for albums as CDs, wouldn’t it be more cost-beneficial to purchase a burner and blank CDs, download FLACs, and just make my own? Wouldn’t the quality be just as goo, and the cost me be lower vs modern thrift store prices?

Just looking for some overall guidance/perspective on this since it’s fairly new to me. Thanks all
