What’s something you wish someone had told you before you started practicing ENM?
I’m curious about the things you only really understand once you actually experience them.
There’s definitely a certain amount of anxiety that can come with the idea of ENM. The “what if this doesn’t work?”, “what if I get in over my head?”, “what if this somehow fucks things up even more?” kind of thoughts.
But at the same time, there’s something really exciting about it. Sometimes the excitement is louder than the anxiety and there’s just a little voice going, “Fuck it. Let’s see what happens.”
And honestly, I wonder if the anxiety itself can sometimes be part of the fun. Not the unhealthy, miserable kind, but that nervous anticipation of doing something unfamiliar and realizing you’re stepping outside of what you thought relationships were supposed to look like.
