What's the best way to go about Expeditions?

My wife and I would like to start organizing expeditions and get max rewards from them but each expedition has a type requirement of 20 and to fully condense 20 pals is a lot of work lol. 960 pals of work to be exact. What suggestions do y'all have for dealing with expeditions in the mid game? I want to make sure I'm utilizing expeditions as best as possible.
