"The internet" is not responsible for new Star Trek failing
The success of the Odyssey proves that the internet is powerless to stop people from seeing a good show.
Also, the success of seasons 1 and 2 of Strange New Worlds also shows that the internet is powerless to stop people from seeing a popular show.
We do not know why people dropped Strange New Worlds in season 3 and have not returned for season 4. If one could guess it would be it dropped it's traditional 'Star Trek' episodes and tried different genres. Maybe people got tired of the 'Spock sit-com' episodes, the Star Trek as Buck Rogers, Zombies, the musicals, the cartoon, the 'Supernatural' type episodes that lead us to the season finale.
Season 4 seems to take that trend and expand on it. We got Star Trek: Event Horizon, then Star Trek: the Hangover.
