Ask for a raise ?

Hey guys I’m new here, I graduated last fall and before I graduated I was blessed to get a job on the field I studied, I’m a international business major and I was able to get a job similar to that. My pay is horrible but the way I see it, better than nothing. The area I live in it’s hard for recent university graduates to get a job. I love my job I love what I do, I just don’t love the pay, I know when I get my experience I will be able to move up to another place fast, but next month they’re going to send me to Atlanta to get some training in ocean logistics and a week after that I will be turning one year. Should I ask if I’m going to get a raise before or after the training ?
