Millthorpe - cliquey or not?
Sydney sider here making a tree change for hubbys work and also for a genuine desire to leave the city for good. He’ll be working just of it side of Orange. From what we’ve researched (and seen for ourselves), Millthorpe is a real contender. It ticks all our boxes, however, when we walked into a local cafe it was almost like walking into an old western saloon. All eyes turned to us, the cliqueyness was palpable. Part of me thinks this might be a positive sign of folks who wants to preserve the community that they love, but part of me is scared that it will difficult for my family and I to settle in. We have a shy 6 year old and I’m quite shy (at first) myself. We are however very decent, quiet family oriented people, not your stereotypical obnoxious Sydney sider.
Any insight/ advice from locals or others who have made the move to Millthorpe or any other country town? Am I overthinking it? Thanks!!!
