Well, hardly poor at $1700, but just picked up Seiko's 145th anniversary that is seemingly only hitting US stores now instead of back in June. It's their first time doing a cobalt/Seiko blue glaze porcelain which is also the signature color for Arita, where the dial is made under master craftsman Hiroyuki Hashiguchi's supervision and constructed by Toshiaki Kawaguchi.

.

I'm not going to pretend that I didn't think blue was already used before until I realized it was Shippo Enamel for the watches I was thinking of. This led me to get educated on Seiko Presage's Craftsmanship series on enamel vs urushi lacquer vs arita porcelain vs shippo enamel. I recommend reading them, along with the articles on this HCC007 by SJX and Time & Tide.

.

Credor's Eichi II Ruri is also porcelain which I've been lucky to see behind the glass in Japan before. Obviously for 30x more money, you can see a deeper, darker, richer blue for most of the dial (along with many more reasons it is leagues above this). This anniversary watch, by contrast, is much lighter by default in most conditions where you can see the center texture easily, and only darker in certain conditions. It is surrounded by the circular "glow" just before the hour markers. Obviously not painstakingly painted layer by layer by hand, but I'm not entirely sure on first impression how they sit on the dial. I think they are applied white markers from one of my photos instead of painted directly on the dial. Perhaps similar treatment or pressed on the Seiko logo and Presage writing. I don't care for the "Automatic 3 Days", but for getting a no date watch from Seiko, I'm happy.

.

Added levels of detail that spark joy are the signed crown with the Seiko "S" and crescent secondhand counterweight that lines up perfectly with the O in logo almost perfectly.

.

I haven't seen many real world photos online yet so sharing mine for those considering this 1700 piece limited watch.
