AYN THOR joystick controls on Mario kart wii?

I've done what everyone says. I've tried the classic controller preset, I've tried the GameCube controller, I've made sure only one is on at a time... And all do the exact same thing. At best (which currently seems to be classic), every single button works except the left joystick. I can't move around the menu with it, and more importantly, I can't MOVE during races without it. Spent 8 months wondering why this doesn't work, and everyone else seems to get on just fine. Am I doing something wrong? As far as I know, I'm just using classic controller presets that dolphin provides and nothing else. I want to be able to maneuver in a race with just buttons, so what else can I do?
