My friends keep calling me gay and it pisses me off
Genuine question, why do people keep assuming I’m gay? Like, I’m literally straight. I just think some guys are really good-looking, which is completely normal. I can appreciate a guy’s smile, hair, voice, outfit, whatever, without actually being attracted to him.
Sometimes I’ll notice what another guy is wearing and think “damn, I wish I could pull that off,” but that’s just fashion. I also get along with guys really easily and sometimes get a little too excited when one of my friends wants to hang out, but that doesn’t mean I like them. I’m just comfortable around guys.
And honestly, I don’t understand why people make such a big deal out of it. I can think another guy is attractive without actually being attracted to him. Sometimes I’ll notice someone’s smile, eyes, voice, or just the way they carry themselves, but that’s not the same thing as having a crush.
I also don’t see anything wrong with wanting to look good around certain people. If I spend a little more time picking out what I’m going to wear when I know they’re going to be there, that’s just me wanting to look presentable.
I guess I’ve just always been pretty comfortable around guys. Sometimes I get closer to certain friends than I do with other people, and I might care a lot about what they think of me, but that’s normal. I don’t think there’s anything unusual about wanting someone to like you or wanting to spend a lot of time with them.
And if I occasionally wonder whether I’d ever date a guy, that’s probably just because I’ve never really thought about it seriously before. It doesn’t automatically mean anything about me. So seriously, why does everyone keep assuming I’m gay?
