Black Screen if Nvidia Drivers installed

I have a g14 that works fine until i enable or install the NVIDIA drivers. I got it off a friend so I don't know the history of it.

When I enable the nvidia drivers the backlight of the screen does not turn on. if I shine a light the rendering is still working just the lighting is not. does anyone know of any fixes?
