Wiping Down Plants

Talk to me about wiping down houseplants. I am a little afraid of doing this even when just spraying preventatively or “dusting” leaves. I’m afraid I may unknowingly spread an infestation of some sort. How do you all handle wiping down your plants? Do you use the same cloth or change it between plants?
