How do I (28F) support my partner (28M) on the anniversary of his dad’s death?
My partners dad passed away, by self harm, 6 years ago. The anniversary of his passing is in a few days.
I’ve been with my partner for 8 months, it’s been going amazingly and I’ve met his family. He was very close with his dad and is still very affected by his passing. To the point that it made his anxiety/depression incredibly worse and it has only just started to calm down the past year or so.
He messaged me this morning saying he might be a bit down the next week or so due to this. And he’s opened up and been vulnerable to me in our relationship about it. I’ve always been there with open arms whenever he’s needed it.
I’m not the best at comforting or knowing what to do for someone in situations like this. So I really want to make sure I support him right. This is the first time he’s going through the anniversary with someone he loves and I feel the need to make sure I do it right.
Is there some way I can start a thoughtful tradition or gift I can do every anniversary to show him that I’m here for him, and that we can remember his father in any way he wants/needs to?? I think he’d appreciate anything I do for him honestly haha
