How is your experience with smart home gym equipment?

I've been looking into smart home gym equipment lately. Ads keep showing up, and the more I read the less sure I am.

Three things I'm stuck on: 1) can digital resistance actually keep up with free weights, or do you hit a ceiling after a year or two? 2) some of these machines want a monthly subscription. Do you lose basic features if you don't pay? 3) how durable are the motors and cables, and what happens when something breaks after the warranty?

I've looked at Speediance, Tonal, and Innodigym, and I'm open to other solid brands too. My place isn't big enough for a traditional rack, so a smart home gym really does seem like the best fit. I'm just nervous about dropping a few thousand and regretting it.

Anyone actually using one of these? How long have you had it, and what's the real experience been like?
