Is it selfish to want two baby showers during my pregnancy?
13 weeks into my first pregnancy and my husband and I are over the moon! We're excited to be celebrating with both family and friends, which begs the question: is it ok to have multiple baby showers?
My husband and I have moved out of state from my family, who is big and close. My mom and sister are excited to be throwing a shower with the aunties, cousins, and friends that are still local (my husband and I are high school sweethearts with many friends still in this area).
However, we live 3 hours away and out of state, and have really laid out roots here the last 9 years. We're really excited to be celebrating with the village of friends that we've made here.
It'd be really inconvenient to ask all of these new friends (2-7 years compared to my old friends of 10-16 years) to drive to my hometown where my mom would like to host the shower. Would it be ok for me to want to host a second baby shower but more local to where we're living now so that I can still celebrate with these friends too? It feels a little selfish wanting to have two showers.
