Christoph, please bring COD back

Christoph, please bring COD back

I’ve been using Compress-Or-Die for almost ten years. I discovered it when I was still a young designer, just starting out and trying to learn how to get the best possible results from graphics.

Today, I’m a Product Manager working on a large project, and I still use COD almost every day. It somehow became part of my daily life and part of my journey.

That’s why reading that COD is gone honestly made me incredibly sad. It isn’t just another website or tool to me. It’s tied to so many old memories, projects, and great days from a different chapter of my life.

I actually created this reddit account specifically so I could write this comment, because I felt I couldn’t just let COD disappear without saying something.

After using it for so many years, losing COD genuinely feels like losing a small but important piece of my own history.

I completely understand your reasons for retiring it, and I respect the decision. But if there’s even a small chance to bring it back, please consider it. Even if it comes back in a simpler form, or with limited features, I’m sure there are many of us who would still be incredibly happy to have it around.

COD has been there for a huge part of my journey. I really hope this isn’t the final goodbye.

Thank you for building something that meant much more to people than you probably ever realized.
