I feel like I got scammed. Are modern silver chains supposed to feel as light as plastic?

I ordered a thick 5mm silver chain from a popular Instagram brand. It looks good in photos, but I just opened the box and it weighs absolutely nothing. It literally feels like coated plastic or aluminum. I’m scared to even wear it to bed because it feels like it’ll crush. Is this just how things are manufactured now to save costs, or did I buy complete garbage?
