Ice Skaters are amazingly friendly!
Been ice skating once a week for ~2 months, and one of the best things about skating is how friendly people are. If I'm struggling with something, I feel safe to ask someone on the ice. In all likelihood they'll know how to or know someone who does who'd be happy to talk through a skill. It's genuinely refreshing.
First public session after a lesson I asked a hockey player how they did a T-Stop on their hockey skates, one of their buddies walked me through it. Outside edge is so much easier good lord. Coming from inline skating, inside/outside edges are wild!
Last week I was struggling to confidently do crossovers, asked someone practicing backwards crossovers how they were taught. Made a friend and managed to progress to practicing backwards crossovers in the same session 💜
It's a shame there aren't any cheaper rinks (or one with a membership plan...) nearby me, else I'd go a lot more regularly :(
