Need advice, son hates daycare

Parent/non ECE professional post (Anyone can comment)

My son (just turned 3) started daycare a little over 3 months ago. I'm not sure if it's normal that he continues to get worse and worse in how much he dislikes going to daycare.

The first week he went, he absolutely loved it. He'd wake up in the morning and ask to go. But he was only going for half days, no nap.

When he started going full days and having a nap time, he started to really hate going. The educators struggle a bit for naps because he would cry and cry for an hour and then fall asleep eventually. At home, he would nap easily. He's always been good for going to sleep. We've never had to help him fall asleep. We had a meeting with the administration to solve the nap problem. Which by what his educator says, he no longer cries at nap time.

But now, he is at the point where every single time he goes into the car, he tells us he doesn't want to go to daycare, even if it's the weekend. At night he struggles to fall asleep, when we go see him he says he doesn't want to go to daycare. When he's in the car and knows he's going to daycare, he continuously says noooooo daycare over and over. There are periods of calmness but he eventually says it again. When we arrive at daycare, he cries and doesn't want to go into the daycare.

I just feel so bad. I hate that he has to go. What can I do to make it easier for him?
