THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM
I was browsing through a mega thread earlier where people were heatedly debating the recent CSG statement, and honestly, the level of missing-the-point is mind-blowing. Someone made a comment (OP 1) defending the council, arguing that "hindi naman dapat maging main information board lang ang CSG." Look, I actually agree with that statement on paper. It isn’t their primary, sole duty to just churn out reminders, routine announcements, and weather advisories for the student body. But let’s be completely real, mahirap bang gawin yun? Absolutely not. It takes two minutes to post a simple graphic or text advisory to keep students informed during bad weather or critical periods.
Then the OP 2 is pointing out that the issue goes way beyond surface-level postings, and I couldn't agree more. Because for an entire month? You couldn’t even handle the simplest, most basic administrative tasks? It’s not just about missing weather updates; it’s about the complete absence of operational standard in your office. When a student government fails at the most basic layer of communication, it signals a deeper, structural failure across the entire organization.
Let's strip away all the distraction, because this is particularly addressed to you, CSG Main Campus. The real problem here isn't just about why there are no weather updates or basic announcements. The massive, glaring issue that you are desperately trying to dodge is this. why, up until now, have you failed to name who the actual PRESIDENT of the Campus Student Government Main Campus is?
Is that too hard of a pill for you to swallow?
Let that sink in for a second, Peninsulares. Payag kayo na one whole month nang vacant ang highest governing authority and representation on our campus? An entire month has passed and the student body is kept totally in the dark about how succession is being handled, who is actually in charge, and who is supposed to be representing our rights to the administration. To focus on "we aren't just an info board" is a hilarious strawman. Not posting advisories is just the very tip of the iceberg. You are intentionally defending yourselves against the wrong issue because you are terrified of facing the real one. Do we, the students who elected or expected representation, not have the basic right to ask. nasan na nga ba talaga si CSG MC President?
The CSG holds the highest governing power on a campus level. Let’s draw a simple parallel here. Papayag ba kayo na ang National President, ang local LGU mayors, o kahit simpleng external organizations lang ay mabanakante ang liderato ng isang buong buwan nang walang abiso sa nasasakupan nila kung sino ang totoong nakaupo? Imagine a city operating for weeks without anyone knowing who the mayor is, while the council members issue statements claiming they can't do anything because of paperwork. It sounds like a bad political satire, yet that is the exact circus you are running here in BPSU Main. Mahirap bang i-post 'yun? Mahirap bang sabihin sa mga estudyante ang totoo? Mahirap bang magbigay ng transparent update sa status ng mismong council na dapat nag-rerepresent sa atin?
The excuses being thrown around are laughable, and quite frankly, nobody is buying it. Using the excuse that you "recently gained access to the official FB page" is an absolute joke. Your Vice President and sitting senators aren't complete strangers to student government, some of them literally came from the previous term! Are you trying to tell us that after an entire year in office, they suddenly have zero grasp on how basic operations work? Na para lang silang palamuti all this time? Are you seriously admitting that your key leaders didn't even have access or control over their own official communications page? If you didn't have access, what steps did you take on Day 1, Day 5, or Day 20 to retrieve it? Nothing. Admit it, you guys are utterly negligent. Huwag niyo na kaming paandaran ng kahit anong PR spin.
Look at the contrast with other campus councils. Wala pang allocation of budget, so what? Does a community-driven grassroots initiative like a donation drive for struggling students require millions in university funding? The OC managed to step up and execute initiatives without crying about lack of funds. Bakit kayo, hindi? Ah, right... kasi nga walang Presidente. Now do you see the core issue at hand? Do you see how your lack of leadership makes the entire council slow, paralyzed, and completely useless? You have zero initiative while students are out here navigating floods, heavy rains, and real-life hardship. Pare-pareho lang naman tayong lahat na nakakaranas ng bagyo at habagat sa Bataan, yet other campus councils managed to organize donation drives even before the heavy downpours hit. Kita niyo na kung paano naiiwan at nabubutas ang Main Campus habang ang ibang campus councils ay may malinaw na plano at tunay na naglilingkod?
And to the Vice President, why have you not stepped up? This is an absolute failure of leadership on your end. By the Constitution and By-Laws (CBL), the line of succession is crystal clear, the Vice President assumes the presidency when the seat is vacant. If the rules are that simple, why haven't you taken the reins? What is holding you back from stepping into the role, claiming accountability, and leading this council out of the mud?
Sitting back and letting the council drift aimlessly for a month without asserting leadership isn't just passive, it is a total betrayal of your sole purpose for why you run, to serve. Your failure to step up and lead when the highest seat is empty shows a complete lack of spine and readiness for governance. If you cannot assume the duties expected of your position during a crisis of leadership, then why are you even holding that title? A Vice President who hesitates to lead when the mandate calls for it is just as guilty of negligence as an absent President.
What is the thought process inside that council room that makes it so impossible for you to comprehend the actual problem? Why was it that you only spoke up after you got called out, and even then, you answered questions nobody was asking while ignoring the ones everyone was shouting? You released a defensive graphic hoping to quiet down the noise, but all it did was highlight your internal chaos and total disconnect from the student body. You proved that you care more about managing your image than actually managing student welfare.
Stop dodging the real issue. Be transparent with the student body that funds and legitimizes your existence. Tell us why you are hiding the status of the presidency. Tell us why you are phantom leaders who only appear when your egos are bruised. If simple transparency and basic initiatives, whether strictly mandated or not, are too burdensome for you to handle, how can the student body ever trust you with larger, critical campus issues like student rights, safety concerns, or academic policies?
Enough with the excuses, enough with the deflections, and enough with hiding behind administrative paperwork. Clear the air, resolve your internal shadow politics, step up, or step down. The students of BPSU Main Campus deserve an actual functioning student council, not a group of title-holders playing politician.
Sana bukas, may Presidente na.
