A few questions for anyone who's renovated or is about to
hello all, I’m a student doing a survey for an assignment
If you’ve renovated an existing place or are about to, i would greatly appreciate a few minutes
Answer whatever ones you feel like, even one or two is helps
- Have you renovated an existing home in Australia, or are you planning to? Roughly what stage are you at?
- When you got quotes from builders or trades, how confident were you that you understood exactly what was included and excluded?
- Did it end up costing more than you expected? If so, roughly how much more, and what caused it?
- Before you signed anything, where did you go for advice on scope, cost or what to watch out for? (friends/family, the builder, an architect, forums, YouTube, nobody)
- What was the most confusing or stressful part of the process?
- If someone independent, not a builder, wrote you a scope of works, went through your quotes against it and gave you a realistic budget before you committed, would you have used that? Why or why not?
- What would you expect to pay for something like that? (Nothing, Under $300, $300-600, $600-900, $900+)
- Anything you wish you’d known before you started?
Cheers
