Those who do their own pedicure - any tips? How do I not make it look messy?

The whole culture of only touching feet for respect made me too uneasy having someone do my feet for me so I make do with what I can.

My toenails never come out looking smooth no matter how I buff them. Any tips?

My pinky toe is also very much non existent. How do I make my feet pretty?
