i was 8 books behind my goal and a prettier tracker somehow fixed it
set a 52 book goal in january. march rolled around and i was 8 books behind with a google sheet that looked like a tax return
tried being responsible. dates, page counts, star ratings. zero dopamine. couldnt even update row 23
switched to one of those apps with visual shelves and cover art instead. embarrassing bc i dont even care about my actual bookshelf?? roommate keeps asking why i reorganized it three times this week
something about the empty slots lined up made me weirdly competitive. 3 books in two weeks after months of dragging. spreadsheet person my whole life btw
idk if its the covers or just that i needed a prettier guilt trip than a spreadsheet id been ignoring since february
anyone else get motivated by aesthetics or am i the only one who needed pretty pixels to read?? what kept you honest when the spreadsheet stopped working
