Using provisional cast-on for toe-up socks?
I like knitting socks toe-up because that makes it easier to use up a ball of yarn in its entirety. But I miss being able to reknit just the toe part of the sock if I need to add or remove just a little length. So I wondered, is it a thing to cast on using provisional cast-on, but not starting at the toe-tip of the sock but a little later, and then once I'm done knitting the sock pick up stitches and knit the toebox? This would probably work best for a toe in a contrast color.
I tried googling but I only found some socks that use provisional cast-on for the very tip of the socks, to graft it later.
