Eater-of-bone Flora and Ecology

So I am rereading Eater-of-bone and this time I decided to list/document all the alien (as far as I know) flora and fauna.

For now, I’ll just talk about flora. I’m about halfway through my reread and I have documented 25 different flora. For example:
Yddybddy (itty bitty?)
Earweed
Pegpoke
And my favorite: Piss fungus, which is yellow, and tastes delicious.

And what is really fascinating is his world building in this unique place. He describes the ocean plants and the seasons and how the fairly complex ecology of it all works. And it all makes sense to me. Not that I’m educated in biology (like Reed is).

Anyway, I just really appreciate good world building that is strange, alien, and seems to make sense. Which I guess is the very definition of science fiction.
