Extending time while dialing phone numbers?

We just got our phone yesterday. Our kids are obviously wanting to dial the numbers that aren’t on speed dial. However, after dialling 3 numbers (slowly obviously as they’re learning) it times out like it doesn’t register a number being dialled and an automated voice states something.

Is there a way to extend the time for dialling? My kids are frustrated. lol
