Nvidia + Wall Street firm arrangement - 25% question
Can someone explain NVIDIA’s 25% residual value backstop in simple terms?
My understanding is Wall Street finances the purchase of NVIDIA GPUs and the GPUs themselves are the collateral. If the borrower defaults, the lender can take the GPUs and sell them.
What I’m trying to understand is the 25% piece. Is NVIDIA basically saying they’ll stand behind part of the future value of the GPUs if they end up being worth less than expected?
I’m thinking of it almost like a form of mortgage insurance for the lender. Is that basically right or am I misunderstanding it?
