**Tim Burton:** Tim Burton’s work essentially forms its own subgenre of **gothic dark fantasy**, blending macabre imagery, fairy-tale elements, dark comedy, eccentric characters, exaggerated production design, and sincere stories about outsiders who don’t fit into conventional society. Even when adapting existing properties like *Batman* or *Alice in Wonderland*, his distinctive visual style and themes make them unmistakably “Burtonesque.”

**David Lynch:** David Lynch’s work is its own brand of **surreal psychological horror**, combining Americana, noir, soap opera, mystery, and dream logic into stories where reality gradually becomes unstable. His films and shows often juxtapose seemingly normal suburban life with bizarre, disturbing, and inexplicable events, creating the uniquely unsettling atmosphere now described as “Lynchian.”

**Stephen King:** Stephen King essentially created a subgenre of **character-driven American supernatural horror**, typically taking ordinary people, families, and small-town communities and gradually introducing something horrific or supernatural into their lives. His stories frequently combine detailed character development, childhood trauma, dysfunctional families, addiction, psychic abilities, and ancient or inexplicable evil, making even wildly different stories unmistakably “Stephen King.”
