Feminism

Feminism was something I saw in memes . After learning about it, I understood it as being about women having more freedom, opportunities, education and the ability to stand on their own.

For context, I come from a pretty religious Muslim family, but education and independence have never been discouraged. My mother is a teacher, one of my sisters is a software engineer, and another lives in the USA and works from there. They all maintain their Islamic values while studying, working and living independently.

That’s why I sometimes get confused when people make it sound like being religious, especially being Muslim, automatically makes a woman less free or less independent.

From what I see online, some modern feminist ideas in Bangladesh seem to clash with Islamic values, while other parts are simply about equal opportunities and respect, which I have no problem with. I also know there are plenty of reasonable feminists, so I don’t want to generalize everyone.

My main questions are:

Why does it sometimes feel like modern feminism is hostile toward religious women, especially Muslim women who choose to follow Islam?

And what does Islam actually say about women, their rights, education, work, independence and the things feminism advocates for?

Personally, sometimes I feel Islam already gives women a lot of what modern feminism asks for, but maybe I’m misunderstanding something idk.

I was warrened to use my words wisely coz people might get one single sentence poking em and later they ignore the whole qun so I dropped the topic of geopolitics and woman clothing hope u guys will understand it too.
