SSH: South Shore Hospital

When is someone going to take action to seriously reform this hospital ? They have been subject to numerous actions over the years.

• They had major issues with clinicians. Clinicians harassing patients and mistreating patients within the exam rooms.

• They didn't secure patient data (paid $1M fine).

• Surgery has removed the wrong limbs.

• They have been accused on operating on senior citizens for profit rather than care.

• Interference in the ongoing Clancy care.

There's so much to unpack there. Folks accuse of them of being racist in care within the local community. Physician groups ally themselves with the hospital. Yet those groups leave once the contract expires. Other clinics have mass exodus of physicians. Those clinicians were actually on SSH payroll until they quit together.

The community often talks about the management culture as being toxic. Now we are how they have a mental health clinic being run by a nurse practitioner. No physician is involved. 3 children are dead after SSH interfered within ongoing treatment being lead by a physician at a different hospital.

I see this as a demonstration of the cavalier attitude to care at SSH. It also shows how preferential treatment is given. A connected patient is seen immediately. The staff seem out of their depth and they are working a difficult case. This case already had a physician...SSH starts prescribing a whole bunch of medicine when the physician was not.
