How do I best support my boyfriend after his accident?

Hello all,

The other day my(30f) boyfriend (30m) got into a nasty motorbike accident. He has very badly broken his leg (open fracture that he has had one surgery on so far) and nasty road rash.

So far it looks like he's going to have a long stint in the hospital - however I want to know how I can best support and be there for him.

What little things can I get or do for him?

How is it best to approach getting him to open up? He is talking a little bit about what's happened but I can also see he's beating himself up and getting in his head a lot. I also know that him being in hospital and on bed rest is only going to mess with him more.

When we know he's coming home, what things are best to have in place to help him navigate and keep as much of his independence as possible?
