boop privacy policy
Effective: August 12, 2026
boop is a Reddit app that turns photo posts into short playable games.
What boop processes
For an existing Reddit post, boop reads the post metadata and its static Reddit-hosted image URL. The server stores a small game recipe and source attribution. It does not download that image for face analysis.
For a photo you explicitly select, the webview downsizes it and relays it once through the Devvit server to Reddit's media upload service. The server validates the upload envelope, does not analyze the photo, and does not retain the request bytes. The game recipe stores only Reddit's returned media URL.
Face processing
Face detection and temporary crop creation happen only inside the player's webview while the game loads. boop does not send, derive, store, or log face embeddings, geometry, landmarks, bounding boxes, crops, cutouts, or facemesh data on its server. That temporary browser data stays in bounded memory and is discarded with the play session.
Community requests
If you tap "message the mods," boop may record that the Reddit message composer was opened for the selected community. This is an intent signal, not proof that a message was sent. For rate limiting, boop stores a community-specific SHA-256 digest derived from your Reddit user ID for 30 days. It does not store your raw Reddit ID, username, message, game URL, or destination URL in that request record. Aggregate community counts expire after 32 days and stay isolated to the Devvit installation.
Use and sharing
boop does not sell request data, export it to advertising platforms, or use Devvit player identities for ad targeting. Reddit hosts posts, comments, and uploaded media under Reddit's own terms and privacy policy.
Retention, deletion, and support
Temporary creation jobs and idempotency records expire. Source deletion events remove boop's stored source mappings and related game references where Reddit provides the event. Use Reddit's normal report and deletion tools for posts and comments. For privacy questions or deletion help, message u/boop-team or the moderators of r/playboop.
