Remember that you’re supposed to interview the managers too
I’ve been in interview processes with a couple of companies lately. But today’s interview actually shocked me.
I had an interview today for a position at a semiconductor company that 80% of people probably have probably never heard of. The interview was with the team manager (a guy), and a senior engineer (a lady).
The interview started out pretty fine, but the manager started talking a bit too aggressively to the senior engineer saying she’s dumb and doesn’t understand the question he’s asking me. Then he belittled my experience and my current company. I don’t want to say he’s sexist because I don’t think it’s that. I think it’s just his management style and he treats everyone like that.
Well the moment I noticed this I realized that’s not a team I want to work for. I kind of wanted to say thank you for your time but I don’t think this position is for me and walk out but I honestly stayed for the lady cause she seemed super nice. I made sure to double down on my questions to understand the nature of his management style, thank god I did.
So remember guys, you’re supposed to interview them too.
