The best English test for a SW Visa and the question about C1-C2

Hi, everyone 👋

As we all know, GOV UK lists the following tests eligible for a Skilled Worker Visa:

> IELTS SELT Consortium: ‘IELTS for UKVI’ or ‘IELTS Life Skills’
> LANGUAGECERT: ‘LANGUAGECERT International ESOL SELT’ or ‘LANGUAGECERT Academic SELT’ or ‘LANGUAGECERT General SELT’
> Pearson: ‘PTE Academic UKVI’ or ‘PTE Home’
> Trinity College London: ‘Secure English Language Tests for UKVI’ – Integrated
Skills in English (ISE) or Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE)

But as I've been doing my research and reading on this sub-reddit, I saw some varied opinions on a couple of questions that interest me:

Note: I intend to pass one of these tests during my visit to the UK

  1. Are "Academic" tests actually not suitable for work visa? Is there anyone who passed, for example, LangageCERT Academic vs LangageCERT General, and still got the visa?

  2. Are LangageCERT and Pearson problematic in the UK? I read some people saying they have a bad-ish reputation.

  3. The required level for a Skilled Worker Visa is B1, but i would like to aim higher and hopefully get C1 (or even C2, if Academic is an option) to get a better chance at finding work. But I've never seen anyone talk about this or write anything about "higher than required" levels. Can anyone advise here?

Thank you.
