Valorant comp has aged me 40 years šŸ˜‚ - a drifter

Discussion

What’s up y’all!

I’ve been playing tac FPS since 2016, starting with CS:GO. It was a wonderful time… until I discovered hackers.

After enough games where the enemy suddenly developed the aim of s1mple’s final form, I eventually gave up on tac FPS altogether.

Fast forward to CS2.

Me and two friends decided to give tac FPS another shot. Somehow managed to hit 18k Premier, but after encountering the usual CS2 hacker experienceā„¢ļø, we switched over to Valorant.

Now, I played Valorant back at launch and managed to hit Gold 2 in early 2020, so I figured:
ā€œHow bad could it possibly be?ā€

Oh boy.

Last night was probably the worst comp experience I’ve ever had. It genuinely gave me a migraine. You can laugh, but I’m not joking šŸ˜‚

We had people with lower ELO insta-locking duelists, getting absolutely folded by better players, and then proceeding to throw the entire game.

No util.No comms.No site executes.
Just vibes.

We’d try to take sites and they’d be standing somewhere in Narnia waiting for the enemy to walk into their crosshair.

Then on defense, we’d get left alone on site while our duelists apparently went on a spiritual journey across the map.

Enemy takes site.We ask for help.Nothing.

They proceed to blame us for losing the round.

At that point I genuinely wanted to reach through my monitor and knock some sense into them. šŸ˜‚
The frustrating part is that we’re currently hardstuck around Gold 2–3, constantly getting matched against Plat players.

And honestly, coming from CS, Valorant feels WAY more punishing when someone decides to mentally uninstall mid-game.

In CS, the playing field is at least fundamentally even. If someone is throwing, you can still potentially drag the game back through aim, positioning, utility and sheer degeneracy.

In Valorant, someone refusing to use their agent properly can basically delete an entire portion of your team’s toolkit.

You can’t exactly compensate for your Reyna deciding that her ultimate ability is apparently running it down B and dying first every round.

So here we are.

Three dudes who came back to tac FPS for some competitive fun, sitting in Gold wondering whether we should actually give up on our comp dreams and return to CS2 hackers.

At least the hackers have good aim. 😭

What’s the play here?

Keep grinding Valorant, find a fifth, or accept that Gold is our permanent residence?
