Switched from Concerta to Elvanse
Hey, first time posting.
I have combined type ADHD, my main issues are probably task paralysis, procrastination, motivation, busy brain, lack of patience, getting easily frustrated and unfortunately, saying whatever enters my brain which will then come back to haunt me whilst I’m struggling to sleep at night.
I’m in the titration period with Care ADHD. I tried Concerta XL firs, started on 18mg and omg genuinely felt amazing, I got my toddler dressed and got her out of the house without dragging the process out. I let her wander free in a situation that would normally stress me out, we baked together for the first time, I got my long list of shit to do DONE! my brain was actually pretty quiet but I felt physically jittery, my blood pressure was initially high but calmed down, bad headaches etc the dose was gradually increased to 54mg due to the benefits wearing off. It definitely helped me get up and go but the physical side effects were a lot, I constantly felt like I was in fight or flight, extreme headaches, insomnia, agitated and easily overstimulated if I missed a day. There is a day that I look back on and I don’t know if that’s how I’m supposed to be or whether the high dose concerta powered up my ADHD.
Any way, docs changed me to Elvanse with the option to go back to a lower dose of concerta if this doesn’t work. I’m currently on 30mg and will go up to 50mg after two weeks. I don’t feel anything, I don’t feel any symptom management, I can’t tell when it’s kicked in, I have no physical side effects. Obviously compared to the concerta rush it’s the complete opposite. I’d really like to achieve the symptom management that Concerta gave with the lack of physical side effects that Elvanse seems to be providing.
I’m aware that meds work for everyone differently but has anyone had a similar experience? did elvanse start working at a higher dose? dI’d anyone have a similar experience with Concerta but found their sweet spot? if so, what did that look like?
