What we know so far about full voice dubbing in Squadron 42
With Squadron 42 getting closer to release, I have been trying to find clear information about its supported audio languages. I went down the localization rabbit hole to find out which languages might receive full voice dubbing in Squadron 42. Here is what I found:
2015: EFIGS localization
Sandi Gardiner said CIG was focusing on EFIGS: English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
When asked whether Squadron 42’s dialogue would also be translated, she confirmed they were still discussing those languages. Ben Lesnick also mentioned French and German when explaining that localized dialogue could replace the English audio.
2016: Chris Roberts discusses dubbing
In 10 for the Chairman: Episode 81, Chris Roberts was asked whether localized versions of Squadron 42 would release alongside the English version.
At 6:42, he said:
He compared the process to dubbing a film and used French and German versions as examples.

2022: An active dubbing pipeline
An official Inside Star Citizen introduced CIG’s localization team working on Star Citizen and Squadron 42, with specialists for French, Korean and Spanish.
At 2:13, the team explains that its localization work covers everything from legal and marketing texts to:
Around the same time, job listings for French, Spanish, German, Korean and Chiness specialists explicitly mentioned “subtitling, dubbing or testing.”
2024: Full Chinese localization
At Bar Citizen Shenzhen, CIG reportedly confirmed that Squadron 42 would receive full Chinese localization, including voices and in-game text.
Notes from the event | Full recording
An earlier Chinese Localization Specialist listing also mentioned dubbing.
Where does that leave us?
- Chinese: clearest confirmation of full localized audio
- French and German: repeatedly mentioned, with later job listings involving dubbing
- Spanish and Korean: included in CIG’s 2022 localization and dubbing pipeline
- Italian: part of the original EFIGS plan, but I found no recent dubbing evidence
CIG still has not published a current table separating interface, subtitles and full audio.
None of this guarantees the final launch languages, but it seems that CIG went further than simply preparing subtitles
